About me
After a decade of teaching special education and English language development in Chicago and Skokie, I (she/her) am now pursuing a certificate in Horticulture to deepen my knowledge of plants and their impact on children. As a special education teacher, I built an edible school garden and saw firsthand the impact that digging their hands in the soil had on my students. While many of my then fourth-graders had difficulty meeting traditional learning expectations in the classroom environment, they thrived in the garden. They followed multi-step directions, engaged in complex communication, and regulated their emotions as they were met with setbacks. Having witnessed the transformative power of nature, I am committed to helping other educators do the same.
