About me
Sarai Bernice (they/them) is a Black queer Chicago born Englewood based multidisciplinary artist, educator, land steward and avid learner of practices of freedom. Sarai’s current visual work explores themes of identity in relation to Land and geology. Sarai uses their artistic expression to educate and inspire wonder for our home planet. Over the past twelve years as an education promoter, Sarai has taught various subjects including art making with reclaimed materials, urban gardening, how to hold a talking circle; and they have facilitated learning with ages 2-87. Since 2021, Sarai has co-stewarded climate justice and arts youth programming with Young Cultural Stewards through the Chicago Park District. Sarai loves being outdoors in all seasons and currently lives with 1 cat, 34 houseplants, and too many books.
